Central Control

Control Operator is an entry level non-certified detention staff position whose primary responsibility is to assist the safety, security and movement of staff and incarcerated public offenders in the Blaine County Detention Center.

Responsibilities

Control Operators require a high level of multi-tasking ability to operate technical systems for security of the facility including, but not limited to:

  • Cameras
  • Doors
  • Intercoms
  • Radios

Control Operators have a critical role in officer safety, inmate safety, and facility security. 

Role

Control Operators provide visual, radio and camera monitoring of all movements and activities within the Detention Center from their vantage inside Central Control booth. They are responsible for operation of all secure doors entering and exiting our facility. If you are interested in law enforcement and possess a high level of detail, this is a great way to get started in law enforcement.

Position

Control Operator Qualifications

  • Meet all minimum Hiring Standards
  • Be a U.S. Citizen and at least 19 years of age
  • Possess a valid Idaho Drivers License
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
  • Pass a Computer Skills Test with a minimum typing speed of 20 words per minute
  • Pass background investigation, oral board interviews and polygraph

Shift

Control Operators generally work four, 10-hour shifts per week. The schedule rotation includes days, nights, weekends, graveyard and holidays.
