On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at approximately 11:46 a.m., Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a residence in Bellevue, Idaho to serve a misdemeanor bench warrant for Failure to Appear on a Reckless Driving charge.
The suspect, Fernando Chavez Zavala, age 38 of Bellevue, Idaho, was located sleeping in his vehicle in the driveway of his residence and taken into custody on the warrant. During a consented search of his vehicle incident to arrest, controlled substances were located. Chavez Zavala was additionally charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine, I.C. 37-2732(C)(1).
Chavez Zavala was arraigned in Magistrate Court on July 20, 2023, where the Judge ordered a $10,000 bond on the felony drug charge and a $500 bond on the warrant. Chavez Zavala remains in the custody of the Blaine County Detention Center on a $10,500 bond.
